Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Brew Notes, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Brew Notes is a local-first, markdown-based knowledge management application. The service includes note creation and editing, folder and tag organization, wiki-linking, knowledge graph visualization, AI-powered features, and cross-device sync.

3. Account

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. One person per account; shared accounts are not permitted.

4. Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to the content you create in Brew Notes. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your notes, attachments, or other content. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the service.

5. AI Features

AI-powered features (summarization, auto-tagging, search, transcription) are optional and can be disabled in Settings. When enabled, your content may be processed by third-party AI providers. AI outputs are provided as-is and should be reviewed for accuracy.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to store or distribute illegal content.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service.
• Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service.
• Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. The offline-first design ensures core functionality (reading, editing, creating notes) works without an internet connection.

8. Data and Backups

While we maintain regular database backups, you are encouraged to export your data regularly using the Export feature in Settings. We are not liable for data loss resulting from service disruptions, account deletion, or circumstances beyond our control.

9. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Danger Zone. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — all notes, folders, tags, attachments, and settings will be removed. We may also terminate accounts that violate these terms.

10. Limitation of Liability

Brew Notes is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
